Celebrating Room 2 Stars

Room 2 students are such hard workers!

This is Ava who has been doing an amazing job with learning all her sight words and using the sounds she hears to spell words in her writing.













This is Macey, she has also been working very hard with her writing in Room 2. She contributes great ideas to our class discussions and has an inquiring mind.

Ava and Macey performed in "Birchwood's got talent" and received a certificate of achievement at Assembly in week two. We are proud of you!

This is Phoenix and last week she got the award for working well with others during problem solving and maths.

















A lot of students have been away sick this week. I hope everyone is well rested and starting to feel better.
Room 2 will be sharing their work in Assembly this Friday. See you there!

Creative learners

Room 2 are a bunch of creative thinkers. Last term Sammy got an award from the Principal Mr Herrick for  the creative ideas that she contributes to our class discussions and learning in maths and technology. 

This term the Principal's challenge is problem solving. The students engaged in problem solving this week with our big interlocking boards. There were some great examples of problem solving as a team to address structural issues and creative differences. 

Student of the week

This is Bradley balancing along the beam.
He was our student of the week at assembly last Friday.


















Bradley is a  responsible, motivated learner.  He asks great questions and puts his best effort into everything he does.

Tricked you!

Bodie showed us a trick for news today. It looks like he has a nail through his finger! He tricked Mr Laing and Kiri. We all thought that it was very funny.

Student of the week

At assembly on Friday Jahzel received our class certificate.

She has been working hard to recognise the sounds she can hear in words and is beginning to use this strategy in her story writing. Keep up the great work Jahzel we enjoying having you in room 2.

Sound of the week

This week we have been finding words with the  /ch/ sound in them. We are listening for them in stories and we are practicing saying the words. This will help us write words with a /ch/ sound.

Student of the week.

Keira was our student of the week at Friday Assembly. She settled quickly into the routines in Room 2. She is helpful to her classmates and always ready to learn. Keira writes interesting stories and is becoming a great mathematician.
